Fossatún offers friendly atmosphere, good food and restaurant facilities for smaller and bigger groups, showcases or meetings. Also if you are just passing by.  

Facilities

The Emphasis is on good contact and communication to the rest of the world. Many see it as a relief to be out in the countryside away from the telephones and computers. Still the communicational tools have become such fixtures of normal life that it is unbearable not to have access when you need it.

Fossatún is a “hot spot” meaning that you have wireless contact at the restaurant but also access to a computer in the reception area.  Also we have satellite TV at our premesis. Very convenient if you want to hook up with what is happening in the outside world or watch a live sport event.  

Acoustic Iceland

For a special treat we offer a  showcase,  Acoustic Iceland. A short film in a surround sound featuring  Icelandic music and nature. An exiting concept and experience that will stay with you long after you have left Iceland. Seeing and hearing is believing.

Walking  - Hiking

Take the troll walk and learn about trolls, folk tales  and places that connect to the nature and scenery at Fossatún.  A hiking trail is on Varmalækjarmúli, the local mountain and a viewing point extraordinaire. It is only 460 m. high and not to difficult.

Meet the troll

From the porch of the restaurant you can greet the troll that turned to stone and chose to to spend eternety watch the waterfalls named after them. Hear their story and see where it took place. It is an adventure that will stay with you forever.  

The Record Collection

We have a vast collection of vinyl albums. Close to 1000 of those are in the receiption/bar area and if asked nicely we will play something interesting and good that you have not heard for a long time or not at all.

Games – Amusement

The campsite offers good facilities for games and amusement. It is not only for children but grownups as well. A giant  play castle, 18 hole mini-golf, football area, frisby golf, outdoor chess, skittles, shuffle board, trampolines and much, much more.

Hot tubs

A special house where you can take shower, relax in a hot tub. Classy and clean.
